Jeffree Skewes - Down to the river
now at last
nothing goes past
clear views rob
any doubt cast
your spectacular dawn
more than reminds
there's only one present
no glib tallies
so fortunate an art
nothing stands still
this quill pushes
into dry paper an umbrella
worn rather than carried
misfitting overused
curated chatter we
once were warriors
left now behind
shores over there
who cares
how many shadows
slipped through fingers
unable to hold snow
or reveal meaning
it's all pose
a little something
danced late into the night
retrieved imago
a still nostalgia
when the thirst is final
and wine becomes music
we go down
to the river
