Jeffree Skewes - Shinny
In a dream
the veil drew back
uncovering the land
larrikins lament
before what happened
This cove they described
the most beautiful
ever seen
topped with a stream treed
freshwater and sandstone
the harbour an ancient secrete
in between turquoise
cerulean and ultramarine or
Whiteley even depicted
it orange
one tiny picnic beach
is all that remains
Bennalong's and Barangaroo's
ancient stories songs and dances
are imagined now at night on her sails
the shinny tall built progress
who knows might last
all we know is that our brinny
swells twice daily
she never goes
